Knights of Columbus  – This is a men’s Catholic organization founded on the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. It was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled, and needy members and their families. Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.

 

Habitat for Humanity – this organization was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller under the concept of “partnership housing.” The concept centered on those in need of adequate shelter working side by side with volunteers. Habitat for Humanity now works in 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries and has helped more than 59 million people achieve strength, stability, and independence through safe, decent, and affordable shelter.
